STEP 1

Create your account

Sign up with WeaveGrid to create your personal EV profile and register for the Optimize Your Charge program.

Important: The Optimize Your Charge program requires a secondary application on Xcel Energy's website to complete your registration.  Please see Step 3 for further instructions.

Connect your car or charger

Sign in with your car or charger's app credentials to authorize WeaveGrid to connect with your vehicle and share charging data back to Xcel Energy.
STEP 3

Pick a charging schedule

After completing your WeaveGrid registration, go to https://my.xcelenergy.com/MyAccount/s/ev to pick an off-peak charging schedule that works best for you.

Enroll with a qualifying Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, or Toyota electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Participation rules
  • Must be an electric customer of Xcel Energy and reside in Colorado, New Mexico, or Minnesota
  • Must enroll with a qualifying vehicle or charging station
  • Must charge at home with a Level 1 or Level 2 charger
  • Agree to charge on a pre-determined optimized schedule. Learn more about the Optimize Your Charge program
  • Small and medium-sized commercial businesses are supported in Minnesota
  • Residential charging is supported for customers in Minnesota, Colorado and New Mexico
  • Must charge during schedule at least 25% of the time to receive annual incentive
  • Incentive will be issued in October

Xcel Energy's EV charging programs are risk-free and you can opt out at any time throughout your program experience.

Do I need to have a Level 2 charger to participate?

While Level 1 chargers are able to participate in Optimize Your Charge, it is recommended that you participate with a Level 2 charger to get the most out of the program benefits.

If you'd like to upgrade to a Level 2 charger, Xcel Energy has multiple offerings to help.

Get up to $500 to offset the cost of installing a charger with the EV Charger and Wiring Rebate. (Colorado and New Mexico only)

Or opt in to the EV Accelerate at Home program to rent a qualified L2 charger and have Xcel Energy take care of the installation and set up. (Residential customers in Colorado, Minnesota, and New Mexico only.)

How does the Optimize Your Charge program work?

You'll pick a charging schedule that works best for you, during times that are best for the grid. Charge during your pre-determined schedule at least 25% of the time and you'll receive a $50 credit on your Xcel Energy electricity bill.

Sticking to your optimized schedule as much as possible can help you save money while supporting grid resiliency.

Colorado and New Mexico Residential Optimized Charging Schedules

  • 9:00p.m. - 6:00a.m.
  • 12:30a.m. - 9:30a.m.
  • 6:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

‍Minnesota Residential Optimized Charging Schedules

  • 11:00p.m. - 7:00a.m.
  • 10:00p.m. - 6:00a.m.

Minnesota Commercial Optimized Charging Schedules*

  • 9:00p.m. - 5:00a.m.
  • 1:00a.m. - 9:00a.m.

*Participation of commercial customers is only permitted in Minnesota for small and medium-sized businesses. Please contact Xcel Energy with any questions at electricvehicles@xcelenergy.com.

How does WeaveGrid collect and use data?

After creating a WeaveGrid account, you will be prompted to sign into your EV or charger account to establish a connection between your vehicle and WeaveGrid.

WeaveGrid then receives your vehicle or charger data in order to provide the program experience and benefits.

This EV data includes information such as how much EV charging has occurred, when EV charging occurs, and whether EV charging occurred at home or away from home.

How does WeaveGrid protect user data?

WeaveGrid is committed to securing users’ data. While we may share relevant EV data with your energy company in order to facilitate program participation, we do not share your EV or personal data with third parties.

We maintain stringent data security and privacy protection procedures to ensure no details about our users, or their charging and driving patterns, are misused or disclosed to unauthorized parties.
